“He’s back! The original Sentinel of Liberty returns, with a new shield, a new team, and a new mission! And he’s not the only one who’s back! Like the saying goes– cut off one LIMB, two more will take its place! HAIL HYDRA!”
So I finally read Captain America #1. The huge controversial reveal was everywhere and I absolutely had to read it right away. It was crazy enough to get me to want to figure out how the story unfolds. The story was just okay for me. We get a basic premise of seeing Cap do what he does best; Being the best of us, doing the right thing, protecting others, saving lives, and a symbol of complete pure morality.
The narrative was interesting and paced back and forth between interconnected events. His SUIT and SHIELD are SICK! That I all enjoyed, but the end completely deteriorated everything pure, organic, and heroic about our Captain America. AW HAIL NAH!!! It DESTROYS who he is as a CHARACTER and as a SYMBOL.
Do I like the direction they took. Not at all. Until it’s explained with creative writing and proper motivations as to why they wrote this decision for Cap, I’ll be able to understand and appreciate it. Will I keep reading… Definitely because this twist is outrageous and I have to see how it plays out because it makes me extremely curious. Something we’ve never seen before, but who knows maybe it could be genius. Hoping for the best! My rating for this comic is a 8.5/10!
